Hi, everyone! Happy Thanksgiving! Buddy check: how are you feeling right now? Stressed? Nervous? Excited? Ready for feasting? All of the above?! Thanksgiving is actually one of my favorite holidays of the year. I love gathering with friends and family, cooking together, and then spending the afternoon happily ensconced at the table, feasting and making merry. Here are few tips that I've picked up over the years: * The more that you can do ahead, the better. Trust me on this one. This week's Green Bean Casserole and Sweet Potato Casserole are both good for that. * If you're nervous about something, ask for help. Let Grandma help with the turkey or delegate the pie to your cousin who loves to bake. It takes a village to make Thanksgiving dinner and you don't have to do everything yourself! * Make sure you have pre-dinner snacks. Even if you're on target to serve dinner on schedule, you will inevitably have guests hovering in the kitchen hoping for a nibble. Set out trays of crackers, cheese, and dried fruit to keep them satisfied until dinner. * Don't sweat the small stuff. Ok, so your turkey is a little dry or the mashed potatoes aren't as perfectly creamy as you intended. It's all good. Is there food on the table? Is everyone smiling and talking to each other? Is there pie and ice cream to look forward to? If so, then you've done your job! At the end of the day, with bellies full, no one will remember little oopsies. Pour yourself a glass of wine and settle in with some pie -- you definitely deserve it! Cheers! XOXO Emma
