NEW RECIPES! Rotisserie Chicken Alfredo, Indian Spiced Lentil Burgers, Lime Icebox Cookies, and MORE!

Latest recipes from Simply Recipes.

Hello, friends!

Have I shared with you my love for toaster tongs? I don't believe I have. Guys, I love toaster tongs.

I mean, sure, they are marvelous at extracting your toast from your toaster without risk of burned fingertips or smooshed bread. I have so many memories of my grandma doing just that, and I felt like I'd achieved true adulthood the year she gifted me with my very own pair.

But I have found a second use for toaster tongs, which is why I now own TWO PAIRS. I have one by my toaster (of course), and I keep the other by my stove.

I cook on a gas stove and am a rather exuberant cook. Every so often as I'm dumping ingredients in the pan or stirring them about, an errant mushroom or leaf of spinach will fly out and slip between the stove grates. I am a firm believer in the 5-second rule and also the waste-not rule, so I grab my toaster tongs, snap up the escapee, and quickly deposit it back in the skillet.

I particularly like these toaster tongs because they're magnetic. I keep mine hanging from our nearby microwave, where I can easily reach out and grab it without even needing to look.

I think of my grandma almost every time I use my toaster tongs, whether for toast or for escaped veggies. I imagine her nodding with approval and chuckling at me sharing this story with all the readers of Simply Recipes.

Have a great week, everybody! Think of me and my grandma next time you make toast!
