Feel Good Friday: Juneteenth A weekly newsletter sharing instances of hope, humor, and humanity. Happy Juneteenth! Here are a few of the cheering or compelling things I’ve come across this week. As always, if you have anything you’d like to share – articles, podcasts, books, interesting finds – email me at cambria [at] simplyrecipes [dot] com with the title “Feel Good Friday.” Thanks for being a part of our community! What I liked this week: - In honor of Juneteenth here’s an interview we did last November with Toni Tipton-Martin, award-winning historian, author, and journalist, about her book, Jubilee.

- I just started using this Chrome extension that tells me how much sunshine is left in the day, down to the second, every time I open a new tab. The developer says the “hope is this gets more people away from their screens and out into the world.”
- The Lockdown Plays: new plays in podcast form!
- For history buffs: In May the National Trust for Historic Preservation “unlocked” 31 historical sites for virtual exploration. The collection is still online!
- The Redemption. Absolutely gorgeous work by Tawny Chatmon.
- I’ve read some great things about this book. Get Out of My Head: Inspiration for Overthinkers In an Anxious World. “Aimed at a modern audience looking for support and community, this beautifully illustrated guide offers a joyful, manageable way to deal with anxiety and quiet stressful thoughts through easy exercises, bite-sized takeaways, and calming visuals.”
Wishing you a healthy, hopeful weekend. -Cambria Product and Lifestyle Director Photo: Toni Tipton-Martin’s classic Jambalaya from her cookbook, Jubilee |
