Feel Good Friday: Rosie Lee Tompkin’s quilts and a cheatsheet for critical thinking.

A weekly newsletter sharing instances of hope, humor, and humanity.

Hello readers! Welcome back to the FGF newsletter. Here are a few of the cheering or compelling things I’ve come across this week.

As always, if you have anything you’d like to share – articles, podcasts, books, interesting finds – email me at cambria [at] simplyrecipes [dot] com with the title “Feel Good Friday.” Thanks for being a part of our community!

What I liked this week:

  • The radical quilting of Rosie Lee Tompkins. Her quilts are absolutely breathtaking. See more of them online at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA).
  • Always up for some throwback tunes and videos courtesy of The Nostalgia Machine.
  • I’ve read great things about Dictanote if want to try out voice dictation for emails, to-do lists, and notes.
  • Speaking of to-do lists, I kind of really love and want this.
  • Paper airplane designs. All of them. Because it’s good to change it up.
  • Bookshop is an online bookstore with a mission to financially support local, independent bookstores. Love this!
  • My life in weeks. Powerful.
  • Bookmarked: The ultimate cheatsheet for critical thinking.
  • Every week I’m discovering fantastic new-to-me newsletters, from which I glean a lot of the interesting tidbits you find in this email! If you’re looking for great newsletters to subscribe to, this list will get you started. Also, Letterlist. Two of my current favorite newsletters are Recomendo by Kevin Kelly, Claudia Dawson, and Mark Frauenfelder, and Noticing from Jason Kottke.
  • It’s the 4th of July this weekend! What are you cooking? I’m strongly considering making this Red, White, and Blue Layer Cake.

Wishing you a healthy and hopeful holiday weekend. (And lots of alliteration, apparently!)
