Top Filipino Foods for All Saints Day

Last Updated on October 31, 2020 by Ed Joven

Top Filipino Food Recipes for All Saints Day

All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day are traditional Catholic holidays set aside to commemorate all the saints and the dead souls. It is a part of Filipino tradition to cook and prepare Native Filipino foods in our homes to celebrate our loved ones who passed away and enjoy the whole family’s presence.

Glutinous Rice or Malagkit is the star ingredient for this season. My family’s favorite Native foods we always prepare are Arroz Valenciana, Biko, Sapin Sapin, and Kutsinta.

What is Glutinous rice ?

It is sticky rice, sweet rice, waxy rice, Botan rice, Biroin chal, mochi rice, pearl rice, and Pulut is a type of Asian rice that is incredibly sticky when cooked. It is called glutinous in the sense of being glue-like or sticky and not containing gluten. While called “sticky,” it is not to be confused with the other varieties of Asian rice, which become sticky to one degree or another when cooked.
